The Psalm of Asaph
73 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 But it is good to me to cleave to God; and to set mine hope in the Lord God. That I tell all thy preachings, in the gates of the daughter of Zion.

Salmo de Asaf
1. ¡Cuán bueno es Dios para Israel, el Señor para los que son rectos de corazón!
2. Pero mis pies casi resbalaron, cerca estuve de dar un mal paso,
3. porque envidiaba a los jactanciosos al observar la prosperidad de los pecadores:
4. no hay para ellos tribulaciones su cuerpo está sano y robusto;
5. no conocen las inquietudes de los mortales, ni son golpeados como los demás hombres;
6. por eso la soberbia los envuelve como un collar, y la violencia los cubre como un manto;
7. de su craso corazón desborda su iniquidad, desfocan los caprichos de su ánimo.
8. Zahieren y hablan con malignidad y altivamente amenazan con su opresión.
9. Su boca se abre contra el cielo, y su lengua se pasea por toda la tierra.
10. Así el pueblo se vuelve hacia ellos y encuentra sus días plenos.
11. Y dice: "¿Acaso lo sabe Dios?, ¿Tiene conocimiento el altísimo?".
12. Ved cómo tales impíos están siempre tranquilos y aumentan su poder.
13. Luego, en vano he guardado puro mi corazón y lavado mis manos en señal de inocencia,
14. pues padezco flagelos todo el tiempo y soy atormentado cada día.
15. Si yo dijere: "Hablaré como ellos", renegaría del linaje de tus hijos.
16. Me puse, pues, a reflexionar para comprender esto; pero me pareció demasiado difícil para mí.
17. Hasta que penetré en los santos arcanos de Dios, y consideré la suerte final de aquellos hombres.
18. En verdad Tú los pones en un camino resbaladizo y los dejas precipitarse en la ruina.
19. ¡Cómo se deslizaron de golpe! Son arrebatados, consumidos por el terror,
20. son como quien despierta de un sueño; así Tú, Señor al despertar despreciarás su ficción.
21. Cuando, pues, exasperaba mi mente y se torturaban mis entrañas,
22. era yo un estúpido que no entendía; fuí delante de Ti como un jumento.
23. Mas yo estaré contigo siempre, Tú me has tomado de la mano derecha.
24. Por tu consejo me conducirás, y al fin me recibirás en la gloria.
25. ¿Quién hay para mí en el cielo sino Tú? Y si contigo estoy ¿qué podrá deleitarme en la tierra?
26. La carne y el corazón mío desfallecen, la roca de mi corazón es Dios, herencia mía para siempre.
27. Pues he aquí que cuantos de Ti se apartan perecerán; Tú destruyes a todos los que se prostituyen, alejándose de Ti.
28. Mas para mí la dicha consiste en estar unido a Dios. He puesto en el Señor Dios mi refugio para proclamar todas tus obras en las puertas de la hija de Sión.
